It can be equipped to tow up to 8900 pounds making it a good choice for families that need to pull a boat or a horse. Stopping distance is increased slightly, but my trailer doesn't have brakes. City driving must be below 10m to a gal. I just need to research them better. I don't know if a chip is available for an 07 or not, but if there is one, I would be interested in installing one if it made more hp and better mpg. Probably all that can be expected of such a heavy vehicle with high wind resistance.
Plenty of power from the 5. Ford is known to have some of the most restrictive oem mufflers. There are 5 of us in our family and we all fit comforatably with room to spare. The 2011 Ford Expeditions in this analysis were driven mostly in the city about 66. The computer will need to figure that part out.
If you drive it daily and want it quiet and comfortable you might want to skip it. Once you do, the computer should relearn how the engine breathes. I truly enjoy how quiet the truck runs right now, so maybe I might stick with the stock air system. Why did I wait so long? The visibility is wonderful, and being so high up, you rarely run into problem with glare and headlights in your eyes in night driving. The motor had to be rebuilt since then and so far its still trucking after 30,000 miles.
I have installed a superchips system on my 05 gmc duramax and I really liked that, so after I posted this question I did some research kinda like putting the cart ahead of the horse. Even with 4 adults and all their gear, handling and acceleration seem unaffected. Externally, Bauer Expeditions are distinguished by 17-inch machined aluminum wheels, Pueblo Gold running boards and generous helping of Pueblo Gold trim. I Took several of the suggestions here. Frankly I think it comes down to how your rig is configured. Appreciate your thoughts on this.
Around town, I got 15 mpg with my Trailblazer and I'm getting 14 mpg with the Expedition. Well I bought the intake kit and exhaust back in 2000 and installed it that weekend. We were getting about 16 mpg, but after replacing the plugs dealer did it, and had to remove the cab to do so , we then burnt a catalytic converter apparantly from the oil they used to loosen the plugs , so we replaced that, and now we are getting 13. The mpgs can increase as long as your driving remains the same. I also added a sound system which the stereo guys did have the grd cable disconnected for some time.
Did you disconnect the negative battery cable after installing the intake and exhaust? If you're already modding for performance tires, exhaust etc. The seats lay completly flat, making it almost as easy to load as any pickup. I can't tell you if the computer has changed my gas mileage. The rest of the kilometers were on the highway at an average speed of 64 kilometers per hour 30. You might hear a little more engine noise on acceleration but this is normal as well.
You can find less restrictive mufflers that add almost zero extra sound or ones that will wake the dead. We don't take it long distances so I can't measure the hwy driving. Only wish for two things. I agree that you're only going to get about. Inside are front captain's chairs with six-way power, heavy-duty rubber floor mats and a soft liner for the cargo area.
As for hauling and towing, this thing is a champ. I just picked up an 07 expy e. It's like a camel that gets down on it's knees so the rider can get on! Our commute did not change much but we are driving slightly more secondary streets. The second row features a small center seat that slides forward to give parents in the front seat access to a small child. You will not believe how much room there is. I have an 05 Expedition 4x4 5. Thanks for the input on this-this is my first expy and I absolutely love it, and I know that I really shouldn't complain about mpg, I just think that if gm can get better mpg why can't I get about the same with ford.
I'm no expert here, so forgive me if I get this wrong. I just paid for the 100k tuneup spark plugs only and change of oil. I can barely even tell when I'm towing my 2,000 pound boat. Acceleration and braking are superb. I have been a loyal Expedition owner since the model was introduced and have never had any major mechanical issues with any of my vehicles. We are very happy that it does all of these things so well. What truck and engine do you have? It has a superb ride, and great power for towing.
